The day before Flagstaff, I woke up in Albuquerque, NM.
That reminds me; When Mimi and I went to the Grand Canyon, we stopped at Flagstaff for the night and hung out with Katie and her friends. She took us to a freak show. It was pretty cool. They had a women they called "tripod" with only one leg, "lopster girl" (messed up fingers) ; "elephant man" (warts all over the body); a midget, guy with short arms; etc...
Oh, and I forgot to mention that the day I drove into Vegas, I passed over the Hoover Dam for the first time in my life. I actually think this was the coolest thing I saw for the entire road trip. They are building a new bridge that will pass over top of the hoover dam, 900 feet above the colorado river. Right now they just have a bit of it built on either side.
Anyway, Albuquerque seemed like a good place to rest. I didn't do much there; just stayed at a campground. But I can't wait to go back. It seemed like an amazing city when I drove in at night. The drive Albuquerque to Flagstaff was probably the most amazing part of the whole cross-country trip. The whole southwest area of the country has got to be the most scenic.
The day before, I woke up in Stillwater, OK; home of Oklahoma State University. Funny story... two days before, in southern Virginia, while I was eating diner, I looked up on the internet all of the Phi Tau houses I would pass along the way. Well, I wasn't exactly passing Stillwater, but it was close enough to my route to warrant a trip to OSU! So I called the chapter house and asked for the "Social Chair". I explained my situation - travelling the country, alumni of another chapter house, looking for some cool guys to hang out with. I offered to fund some partying. They abliged, and offered a place to stay. So I took them up on the offer. I parked my 5th wheel at the local Walmart, and called up my new buddy who came and picked me up. He took me back to the chapter house, which was very much like my own, and introduced me to the brotherhood. I shook lots of hands, but most importantly, actually was challenged for the Phi Tau password and handshake! Once I sucessfully passed the test, they took me out to the local bar, which was not impressive on a Tuesday night, but overall it was fun, and I made some new friends that I'll probably never see again.
From Stillwater to Albuquerque was the most desolate area I've ever seen. Nothing but flat brushland around western oklahoma / Amarillo, TX area. At times I was worried that my tank would run out before I got to the next deisel gas station.
The day before OSU, I drove 900 miles from some campground just over the eastern border of TN. I was in a rush to get to OSU and spend a night there with enough time to make it to Flagstaff on Thursday night.
To Be Continued - I finally have AC!!

05-19-08 - Boulder City, NV
I should be sleeping right now, but i'm waiting for the repair man to finish installing my 2nd air conditioner for the bedroom. It was impossible to sleep yesterday in the 105 degree heat with only one AC... and with today's forcast of a record-breaking 109, I had to do something. Mimi is on her way over too. She turned in the keys to her apartment and is going to stay with me for her last week in Vegas.
This past weekend we stayed in Vegas, but one thing we did that was pretty cool is we went to the pool at the Palms. The pools in Vegas in the summer are pretty amazing. Lots of hot bodies and nice cool water. The cool part was seeing celebrities Seth Green and Snoop Dogg hanging out at the pool!
Last weekend was also filled with Celebrity sightings. Mimi and I went to a filming of "America's Got Talent". We were amazed to be seated directly in the middle of the front row, the only people in front of us being judges Sharon Osborne, David Hasselhoff, and some guy named Piers... And the host of the show was Jerry Springer. The acts were fun to watch, but the whole event took way too long. We had to do lots of scripted fake emotions and applauses that they will edit into the show. But we will definitely get some air time being in the front row. The show premiers on June 17th, and I'm not sure when our episode will play, so you'll just have to watch them all.
That gets me up to date. I'm going to start a new a new posting to get move backwards.

Boulder City, NV 05-10-08 part 2
So that brings me back to the road trip. My first road trip with my new home, a 2008 34-FT Keystone Montana 5th wheel trailer/camper, attached to a Black 2008 F250 Deisel Lariat, with sun roof, Sirius Satelite Radio, & Navagation system to make the long trips more barable. The friday that I got to the Oasis, I woke up in Flagstaff, AZ, at Katie H's apartment. She took me out with her friends in the town she goes to school at (Northern AZ University).
Mimi's here... to be continued.
Mimi's here... to be continued.
Boulder City, NV - 05-10-2008
Sitting in my brown leather recliner, in the back of my 5th wheel, watching a halfway decent movie on TMC... waiting for Mimi to get here. We're going to breakfast somewhere, not sure where. We would be doing something more extravagant this weekend, but I am recovering from a cold. I just slept for about 16 hours. I haven't been getting enough sleep lately. I'm working on an open-store remodel of the PF Chang's restaurant at the Planet Hollywood Hotel on the strip. We work Monday - Friday from 1AM until 10AM, but I am often there from about 12AM-11AM... or longer. Luckily I haven't had to work weekends, yet. In the last few weeks I've done some good travelling... Last week Mimi and I flew to Chicago. The week before we stayed in Vegas but got a room at Mandalay Bay and stayed by the pool on Sunday. The week before that we drove to Mexico, a small town on the Gulf of California called Puerto Penasco. The week before that we went to Zion National Park.

The week before that I went to the Mojave Desert & Lake Havasu by myself while Mimi was in LA. The week before that, we both went to the Grand Canyon. That was our first trip together, but the weekend before that we did some hiking at the hot springs just over the Hoover Dam in Arizona. Her friend Yona was here that weekend, too. She's coming next weekend as well. The weeks that proceeded the hot springs I was alone... but I had met up with some people I knew from High School and College that I connected with on Facebook. I'm still waiting for one of them to give me a contact to a fraternity brother of mine that I've heard is out here.
So that brings me back to February 29th, the day I got here. I spent my first 2 nights at the Oasis RV resort in Las Vegas, which more of a white trash resort than a nice campground. So on that Sunday I kept my reservation at the Boulder Oaks RV Resort in Boulder City, NV, and I've stayed there for that past 2 months and glad that I have. It's a quite retirement community and vacation spot with great views of desert mountains and the bright blue Lake Mead. Also you can actually see the stars at night, which is a rarity in the Vegas area. It's a 30 minute drive to the strip, but I find it to be worth it regardless of the $4.20/gal deisel fuel costs. Mimi's apartment is on the way, and Howard Stern keeps a smile on my face.
In the past 2 months, I've also seen a lot of shows in Vegas. Mimi turned me on to a website of free tickets for locals, which has helped us see lots of shows for cheap and or free. We've seen several comedy shows, Elvis impersonators, Toxic Audio, Stomp Out Loud, Rossanne Barr, etc etc etc.
Got to run.
